The idea for GolfStart came to me after teaching my wife how to golf. Watching her start from scratch made me realize how challenging, frustrating and expensive learning can be. Like many beginners, she wanted to play for fun but was faced with challenges such as:

• A reluctance to purchase clubs/equipment before knowing if she enjoyed the game;

• the inability to find affordable golf lessons; and

• the frustration and demotivation of group lessons when proper guidance is not available.

Thankfully I was there to step in and help her on her journey. I have been an avid golfer since my teenage years and currently have a 9 handicap. My simple instruction techniques taught her the golf fundamentals and got her on the course. She doesn't have plans to go Pro, but she plays well and has the confidence to play on her own. She golfs as much as I do (often without me!), choosing to play with her new "golf crew". Her love for golf grows each time she plays, and that's what it's all about.

Through the golfing community, I continued to hear similar stories of how hard it was to start golfing. The fear, the frustration, the money, the time... it was clear that the barriers to starting golf were substantial.

So I set out to start a company with a mission to make golf accessible and fun! and that is what GolfStart Academy aims to accomplish.
